Public Health Education and Epidemiology

This assignment provides an opportunity to prepare a public health initiative for education. Students will select a local epidemiological condition from Assignment 1: What’s in Your County and prepare a public health educational item. This can be a brochure, article for a local newspaper, poster, newsletter, Glogster, Prezi, Facebook page, Voice Thread, or other publishable artifact that educates a selected population of their community. You will choose a targeted population for this public health item, and decide how to present this topic with the objective of promoting improvement in healthcare and/or quality of life related to health.

Here are some tips for creating a brochure in Word, if you choose to design this for the assignment.
If you choose a Glogster, below are directions to enroll:

1. Go to go to http://edu.glogster.com/
2. In the top right corner of the page, click on the green “Get Started” box
3. For user type, choose “Student”
4. Enter the school code: 8FHDG2
5. For Username enter your Delhi email
6. Click “Create My Account”
   There are also iPad and Android apps available for Glogster for a small fee if you need help with issues with audio and video.
   Voice Thread Assignment
   You may use Voice Thread (VT), a Cloud-based interaction and sharing tool which enables users to add images, documents, and videos, to which users can add voice, text, audio files, or video comments. Delhi School of Nursing has integrated VT into Moodle. If you have never used VT before, when you click on the VT link in the course, your account will automatically be created tied to your Vancko Hall login. See the VT videos tab for more information. Please make sure you hit submit after you have completed your audio narrated PP slides in VT. Email your instructor when you submit your VT to make sure that it is listed as a submitted assignment.
   • For your educational artifact, create 4-5 PowerPoint slides (excluding your reference slide(s). Upload the presentation into Voice Thread and then add narration through audio or video. Comments. Please do not use typed comments.
   • Describe the county public health issue you identified in your first assignment.
   • Educate the public about this issue as if you were speaking to others.
   There are mobile apps available for Voice Thread on iPhone, iPad, or Android.
