GREAT WRITER-AS A NURSE LEADER I WITNESSED ONE OF MY STAFF NURSE WAS MEAN, UNHELPFUL TO AN AGENCY NURSE WHO CAME IN TO HELP DURING COVID.
THE NURSE WAS DISGRUNTLED BECAUSE SHE FELT THE AGENCY NURSE GOT EASY ASSIGNMENT IN THE ICU SO SHE REFUSED TO HELP HER DURING A 12 HR SHIFT. THE AGENCY NURSE HAD A RAPID RESPONSE (A CRITICAL CARE ISSUE) AND THE STAFF NURSE A PART OF THE RAPID RESPONSE TEAM REFUSED TO HELP HER WHICH COULD HAVE COMPRISE THE PATIENT CAUSING DEATH. I HAD TO STEP IN MOST OF THE TIME TO HELP THE AGENCY NURSE DURING HER 12 HOURS WORKING
THE OUTCOME WAS NEGATIVE BECAUSE WE HAD TO FIRE THE STAFF NURSE WHICH USUALLY WAS A GOOD NURSE. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THE AGENCY NURSE REFUSED TO COME BACK AND WE WERE LEFT WITH LIMITED NURSE DURING THE COVID PANDEMIC
