Implementing a Research Plan

Assignment Question:

Implementing a research plan requires skills in project planning, data management, client management, data organization, and logistics. When deploying a research plan instructional designers should reflect on those skillsets.

Implementing a research plan is hard work and requires carefully planned project, budget, and time management. But conducting your research plan is only half of the task—organizing and protecting the data that you collect is an additional challenge. The focus in this topic is to practice the applied skills and logistics of data collection. Efficient and accurate data analysis relies on responsible data collection and handling.

In previous topics, you developed a detailed research study design and plan, all targeting a problem statement about your instructional solution. You will now put your plan into action.  Carry out your carefully outlined procedures to collect, handle, and store your data.

In the “Alignment Table Worksheet,” respond to the following prompts in the topic justification section and complete the corresponding cells of the worksheet:

1. For each data source listed in the worksheet, provide the date you actually completed that portion of your data collection in the Timeline In a 200 word reflection, document your processes and experiences of data collection. Describe the types of data you collected, the tools you used for data collection, and any lessons learned.
2. In 250 words, document your processes and experiences of data handling and storage. Summarize the tools you used, how you ensured participant data was ethically handled and safely stored, and any lessons learned.

Adjust previously completed sections of your worksheet. Remember to maintain alignment throughout this worksheet. Read through the worksheet and ensure all elements support and build on each other; there should be no conflicts across the rows.

While the “Alignment Table Worksheet” is meant as a personal tool for organizing research investigations, use professional writing style and mechanics. Include thoughtful descriptions for each element to provide additional context for someone unfamiliar with your project and use supporting visuals as necessary.

APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.
