Healthcare Policy

This week you will be learning about healthcare policy and how the PCHN works with other disciplines to achieve optimal care for the community he/she is working in. Policy is important as it impacts how populations have access to care, preventative care and this is really where you will see how community assessments come into play. All of this will lead to your week 7 presentation where you will bring your assessment, recommendations, policy needs and multidisciplinary care together.
You will need to think about population/community/public health this week and really try and shift your focus away from bedside nursing.
As you do you readings this week, pay attention to chapter 3 in the text and the article posted in the weekly reading. You will want to read both of these prior to taking the quiz this week.
The quiz is a 21 questions quiz. It is timed and you only have one attempt to take it so please make sure that you allow yourself enough time to read your chapter prior to attempting. The quiz does have a set close time Thursday evening so you do need to have it completed prior to 2359 EST on Thursday.
Your other deliverables this week are your second case study (to the TII dropbox by 2359 EST Sunday night) and part of your assignment 2 by Monday at 1859 EST.
Assignment 2 looks at the interventions and evaluation of those interventions based off of the problems you identified this week in your windshield survey. Those have already all been returned with feedback so if there are directions I think may be better for you to focus on, I have noted them. The feedback from this second assignment will help finalize the direction for your presentations so please read those directions carefully.
Please make sure you have signed up for a slot for week 7 if you haven’t already. I need to set up the Zoom rooms and need to see if people have to move so please sign up if you haven’t already. If you have not signed up for a slot by the end of week 5, you will have a slot assigned to you. These are mandatory 3 hours slots so please plan accordingly.
Lastly, the case studies (as is in the directions in the dropbox), need your name on them, need a summary of the case study, need the questions you answered written out as well as the answers and need to be submitted to the TII dropbox to receive credit for them. Each answer should be a minimum of one paragraph and references need to be cited appropriately.
You do not have a DQ due this week in true DQ form so your deliverables count toward your attendance and participation as well. They are due Monday and Friday (assignment 2), Wednesday (quiz) and Sunday (case study 2). Everything except the quiz has had flexible turn in which means it can be submitted anytime prior to the due date. Once week 4 is open, the quiz is available as of 0001 Monday.
