Critical Appraisals

Critical Appraisals of Johnson et al 2021 & Sharpe et al 2021.

BACKGROUND:
The textbook used a set of criteria in order to critically appraise research (see Chapter 7, Table 7.1).

Chapter 7 of your text provides an example study and critical appraisal of the article “Experiences of Care in Emergency Department Among a Sample of Homeless Male Veterans: A Qualitative Study” by Jillian J. Weber and colleagues. The article is presented in its entirety and followed by the appraisal.

Assignment Instructions:
Complete a separate appraisal for each.
1.) After reading chapters 5-7 of your LoBiondo-Wood and Haber text and reviewing the example in Chapter 7, use the Johns Hopkins tool to critically appraise Johnson et al 2021 (PDF) (sleep health)

2.) After reading chapters 5-7 of your LoBiondo-Wood and Haber text and reviewing the example in Chapter 7, use the John Hopkins tool to critically appraise Sharpe et al 2021 (PDF).
Rubric as follows:
● Comprehensive Appraisal and Tool Utilization: Thoroughly completes the article summary information section; accurately identifies the correct part of the appraisal tool for the type of study (quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods); all key aspects of the article are identified and correctly related to the EBP question.
● Quality Assessment Questions: Answers all quality questions correctly and with complete accuracy.
● Effort and Completeness: Submission demonstrates thorough engagement with the appraisal tool; detailed and comprehensive.
