Watch the video “Replacing What’s Lost”, which demonstrates the intervention process with the Norman family case we have been following this semester. This video will be the focus of our community discussion this week. As you watch, notice the specific intervention strategies Gabriela uses with the family. What theoretical approaches is she incorporating to help the family gain more insight into the challenges they’re facing and work toward their goals?
By asking the “Miracle Question,” Gabriela has helped the family picture a future without the problem. But is this enough to create real, lasting change? What interventions can she develop with them to expand the miracle picture and make it their new dominant story? Assignment Directions Below:

1. Based on your knowledge of the intervention process (from this course and SLWK 604), which components and strategies did you see modeled in the video with the Norman family?
2. What seemed to work well in the session, and why do you think it worked well?
3. Did you notice anything that didn’t seem to go well or that you might do differently as the provider?
4. List at least three other approaches or strategies for intervention that you might use if you were the practitioner working with this family, and why would you choose them?
