What Are the Functions of the Renal and Urologic Systems?

 The purpose of this assignment is to understand renal and urological structures and altered processes that can occur.

Beth, an NP supervisor, has been working at the Renal/Urology clinic for the last 15 years. She has worked with several patients—adult and children—who do not have a clear understanding of their renal/urologic disease process(es). Most patients leave the clinic with unanswered questions. As part of the NP care team, you have been tasked with developing a trifold pamphlet to share with patients and their families.

Choose one of the following:

• Renal stones
• Overactive bladder
• Urinary tract infections
• Glomerulonephritis (adult)
• Glomerulonephritis (children)
• Chronic kidney disease (CKD)
• Nephrotic syndrome
• Kidney injury (children)

Develop a detailed trifold pamphlet that includes the following:

• The disease pathogenesis.
  • The structure(s) of the kidney that is/are being affected and how.
  • Renal function tests that need to be examined.
  • Clinical manifestations and treatments.
