As an administrator, you will be tasked with handling the financial matters in your school. You must be aware of factors that affect funding, as well as sources of revenue. You must also be familiar with laws related to school finance for public education.

Complete Parts 1 and 2 below.

Part1: Interview

A district representative wants to interview you on the topics of educational funding, sources of revenue for schools, and the government role in public education. You will be expected to share your opinion and the reasons for your perspective based on both experience and research.

Research the following topics in preparation for your interview:

  1. Trends and issues concerning changing school demographics and their effect on school finance
  2. Sources of revenue available to support public education
  3. The federal government’s role in public education
  4. Advantages and disadvantages of tax credit donations to public school systems

Choose one of the following formats for your interview: a 3- to 5-minute recorded podcast or a written magazine-style interview.

Pulling from your past experience and your current research, respond to the following prompts:

  1. Evaluate how changing demographics have affected educational funding and identify some challenges and benefits associated with these changes.
  2. Determine a variety of sources of revenue available to support public education and explain why it is important to be aware of different sources and uses of revenue.
  3. Assess the federal government’s role in public education as prescribed by the U. S. Constitution, other federal legislation, and court decisions. Do you think the federal government should be more involved in public education or less? Explain your reasoning.

Format this assignment as you would expect an interview podcast or a magazine-type interview to be showcased.
