Assignment

‘Critically assess both the English and German law on piercing the corporate veil.’

Please note:-

• Only piercing the corporate veil in respect of English private companies limited by shares and German GmbHs should be considered

• SOAS has an Academic Misconduct policy, a copy of which is posted up under the ‘Assignment’ tag. This policy includes plagiarism so do take care-reference your sources

• The maximum word count is 3,000 words-see the regulations posted under the ‘Assignment’ tab as there is flexibility up to 10% extra words but thereafter the penalties are quite heavy

• For referencing please use OSCOLA-both a short and a detailed guide is posted up on Moodle. Note that footnotes will count towards your overall word count but not the Bibliography

• Your Bibliography should have separate categories for the different types of materials eg books, cases, internet sources

• The deadline has been changed. If you submit late, penalties will be imposed if you do not have ‘extenuating circumstances’. A copy of the regulations relating to penalties for late submission is also posted up under the ‘Assignment’ tag. Do avoid submitting a few minutes before the deadline as the system does sometimes get overloaded-it is advisable to submit by 11.30 pm at the latest

• Make sure that neither your name nor student number is on your assignment to ensure that it can, as required, be marked anonymously
