Once you gain access to Sentinel City, follow the orientation modules. Then, navigate around the city. Investigate the demographics of the citizens in the city. Review health statistics and data available regarding health and healthcare delivery. Use the information available to identify health issues and potential disparities within the city
Take the avatar around the city. Begin by driving the bus around. You should minimally stop and visit the following locations within Sentinel City: (1) Better Health Clinic, (2) Public Health Department, (3) Community Center, (4) Sentinel City Healthcare System, and (5) City Hall. There are thirteen (13) citizens in and around Sentinel City. You should stop and interact with each citizen and hear about their health concerns. You will do so by exiting the bus and interacting with the citizens of Sentinel City under Sentinel City Map View. What issues impact their health? How can the nurse advocate for one or more of the citizens encountered or for a health need within Sentinel City? You should spend a minimum of three (3) hours within Sentinel City platform completing your tour.
After completing these activities, complete the following assignment:
• Write a letter to the Sentinel City Mayor outlining a proposed policy change that addresses an issue that impacts health of a citizen or citizens within Sentinel City.
• The issue can have an impact on the health of children, adults, or the entire community.
• Include statistical data and other evidence-based resources to support your position.
• Compare Sentinel City’s statistics with state and national data on the issue/disparity identified on the Sentinel City citizen.
• Using data and statistics, highlight how this issue is impacting Sentinel City, when compared to its impact on your state and the nation.
• Begin the letter by explaining why the issue is important to address and any negative outcomes that could surface if the issue is not addressed.
