Select a K-12 grade level of your choice. Identify state or national ELA content standards associated with the reading, writing, listening, and speaking strands for your chosen grade level. Find the corresponding ELA standard for the preceding grade level and the proceeding grade level. Support the assignment by citing 1-2 scholarly resources.
Standards:
• Bold the nouns or noun phrases (e.g., the concepts that students need to know).
• Highlight in color the verbs or verb phrases (e.g., the skills needed).
Instructional Strategies:
• For each ELA strand (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) describe one grade level appropriate instructional strategy or activity that could be used to teach the selected standard.
• Consider dyslexia and one other reading disability under the categories listed in IDEA. Suggest one accommodation for each instructional strategy or activity that is appropriate for students with these exceptionalities.
