Improving Businesses

Identify a small business in your community. What innovation choices have they made to improve the organization’s ability to succeed.
Consider the ideas in this week’s learning and the details of your example and:

1. Briefly describe the business and any special features such as suppliers, customers, services, laws, internal factors, knowledge, or similar.
2. What or who is driving the innovation? How is this achieved?
3. Do you see the business maintaining its unique abilities to lead others in the industry? Why?
4. What do you suggest that they might do in their next step to stay ahead?
5. What did you learn?
   Finally, review the sample paper as a guide and rubric.
   Please note once you submit the paper, turnitin will review it within 24 hours automatically (it is tied to the Dropbox). You do not need a code, please submit the paper to the drop-box for a grade.
   Your essay is to be a minimum of 500 words in length. Going over the minimum word length requirement is acceptable; however, I am not looking for a 1000+ word essay.
   Through writing this assignment you will be required to demonstrate knowledge of how to integrate concepts from your textbook, how to conduct research, and how to properly cite sources using APA formatting guidelines. You will be responsible for using scholarly/peer reviewed sources in this assignment. Textbooks are not considered a scholarly/peer reviewed source; however, they may still be included as a supplemental reference.
   Be as thorough as possible when writing your essay, and remember, this is an academic assignment, so no “text-talk,” no conversational tone, and ABOVE ALL OTHER THINGS… don’t plagiarize!! Lastly, spell-check and proofread your work! Failure to follow these steps will negatively impact your grade.
   For this course, you will submit the graded activity using Turnitin. An Originality Report will become available within a few minutes after your first submission. Inside the Originality Report will be a Similarity Index. The Similarity Index shows a percentage of the material in your paper which matches other sources found by Turnitin. You will be expected to have a Similarity Index of less than 15%. If your Similarity Index is greater than 15% you will need to review your Originality Report to be sure that you have paraphrased your work appropriately, and cited your sources correctly.

The Originality Report will help you to avoid plagiarism, and improve the quality and content of your essay. It is strongly suggested that you keep direct quotations to a minimum, and never copy and paste text without proper citations. You have until the activity due date to resubmit your work, however, there will be a 24 hour delay before the Originality Report becomes available. It is your responsibility to submit your activity on time, with a Similarity Index of less than 15%.
General APA Formatting Guidelines:
The Week 1 Assignment should have an APA title page and an APA reference page. The APA title page and APA reference page DO NOT count towards the minimum word requirement! Your body of work needs to be a minimum of 500 words in length. Note that an APA abstract page is NOT required!
