Consequences of War

The Midterm Exam will evaluate what you read and learned in the first 3 modules. It consists of 4 essay questions. All 4 essay questions must be answered to the best of your ability by the end of Module 4. Each answer should be 300-500 words (1.5-2 pages) in length.

1. Why did the United States go to war in 1898, and what were the consequences of the war? Explain.
2. What were the significant American foreign policy issues under Theodore Roosevelt? Explain.
3. Explain the problems faced by the United States due to World War I and the response of President Woodrow Wilson from 1914-1919? (Be sure to consider the foreign policy, humanitarian, and political issues.)

   a. What led to American involvement in World War II? Be sure to include the issues in contention among the United States and Japan and Germany and the domestic restraints on FDR from 1937-1941 in pursuing a more activist foreign policy.
   b. What are the US’s major foreign policy issues of World War II? Be sure to discuss the issues
   You must properly cite all your sources using Chicago/Turabian or APA style, including textbooks and any other sources you may use. It is suggested that you write or print out the essay questions for handy reference as you develop your responses.
   Compose your work in a .doc or .docx file type using a word processor (such as Microsoft Word, etc.) and save it frequently to your computer. For those assignments that are not written essays and require uploading images or PowerPoint slides, please follow uploading guidelines provided by your instructor.
   Check your work and correct any spelling or grammatical errors. When you are ready to submit your work, click “Upload Submission.” Enter the submission title and then click on “Select a file to upload.” Browse your computer, and select your file. Click “Open” and verify the correct file name has appeared next to Submission File. Click on “Continue.” Confirm submission is correct and then click on “Accept Submission & Save.”
